I'm glad that you decided to check me out...
So, who am I? Who is Lisa Torres????
Well, first and foremost, I am a wife and a mother of a beautiful girl named Tatyana. I was born and raised in The NE Section of the Bronx, NY and here is my story.....
I was brought up in what most people from where I come from would call the "GOOD" part of the Bronx. I was raised in a single parent household along with one of my older sisters (I'm the baby of 4 girls) and although my mom did the best she could to raise us and give us pretty much everything we wanted, I always seemed to find myself in some kind of trouble....from an abusive relationship at a young age of 15 years old, to getting arrested in the streets for fighting, to getting sentenced to a year in a group home for girls. Now, I don't consider myself to have been a "BAD" kid, I was just a kid getting caught up in the wrong situations. And soon, one bad thing after another happened in my life....
While I was in that group home for girls, one of my older sisters passed away from a liver disease. She was only 26 years old. I was 16 at the time. My sister left behind my nephew who was 3 at the time that she died. So, my mother and I had to raise him because his father was missing in action.
Exactly 6 months after my sisters death, my mom gets the news that she has Cancer and has only a few months to live....8 months after that, she passed away. And as you can imagine, I was very devastated! I was only 17 and left alone with my 4 year old nephew. So, I had to drop out of high school to get a "JOB" to raise my nephew along with collecting food stamps and welfare because I wasn't making enough money. I had some financial support from a few family members but I was determined to make it on my own. After all, I did not have a choice. My boyfriend of 2 years at the time moved in with me to help as well. But that turned out to be a very physically abusive relationship that I dealt with for 3 years. Then, I got rid of his ass!!! Mommy always taught me to be strong! But, when you love someone, it's hard to let go (even after all the abuse) and you just deal with the cards that are dealt, until one day you wake up. It's unfortunate there are not as many woman as strong as I am. Some don't even make it out of the relationship.
Anyway, 6 years after my moms death, yes another troubling episode happened in my life....my oldest sister passed away. She was very much in to the streets and really got caught up in a mess. She died of AIDS and drugs. We tried to help her so many times, but you can only help someone but so much. They have to WANT to help herself.
After going through all the struggles that I went through in my life, I decided that I had to make a change. And I did! In every aspect of my life.
Today, I am a whole new person, although my life's experiences will never be forgotten and I cherish everything that I have been through because without the struggles, who knows what kind of woman I would be today.
Today, I am married to a WONDERFUL man. We have the BEST relationship. Now, don't get me wrong, we argue just like everyone else does, LOL. But, he is my best friend. We've been together for 13 years now and have a beautiful daughter together. I am very happy where I am in my life right now.
I write this to tell you that ALL things are possible. Even when times are hard...if you stay focused, things will change for the better. Stay focused on the prize!
Now, let's talk about my career...
My ENTIRE life, I was always somebody's Assistant. Now, I was good at what I did but I knew that deep down in my soul that it was not for me. I did NOT like taking orders from people, and it showed....lol - I guess you could say I have "Leadership" qualities.
Through the years, I've tried many network marketing companies and have failed in ALL of them. But, I was determined to start my own business....and so I did.
TODAY, I have 2 successful businesses.
1. Grassroots Business Network, LLC - We organize and promote networking events for small businesses and entrepreneurs in several cities on the East Coast.

Part of GBN is My Marketing Room (which is new since November 2008).
I am an Internet Marketer and teacher. I teach people how to market their business ONLINE and share resources and ideas on how to become a successful internet marketer.
2. I am a Certified Raw Food Chef & Teacher - I teach people how to prepare Raw Vegan Meals, Gourmet Style (NO SUSHI)...lol This is more of a hobby that I just make money from.

Now, I know you are probably saying to yourself, "Lisa, how do you find the time to do all of this". Well, first of all, you GOTTA have a plan and you GOTTA be organized! Withoug organization, you will FAIL. That is first and foremost.
So, how was did I become so successful? What exactly did I do?
Here are 3 tips from me that I have learned along the way:
1. Get Organized (Both at home and at work)
2. Build a Mailing List:
Provide an easy sign up form on your site to gather email addresses. Simply share information that you feel they can benefit from. ALWAYS include a link to your website at the end. When they go to your website and you have a product or service that you are selling, chances are they will buy from you now that you've built a trusting relationship with them via your email communications. People want to do business with people they know, like and trust.
3. Write Articles:
Online AND take those same articles that you write and attach your business card to it and hand them out when you go networking.
